Amity Art is a team, Ted Kennedy and Jan Sargeant. Now retired, both are now active as artists with an established sales history. They taught together over 30 years ago, lost contact, found each other again through Friends Reunited in July 2005 and have been together ever since. Somewhere down the line, they married although the date is hazy and neither wanted to change their name.
They share a passionate interest in art in all its many forms, although they both work mainly in acrylics. They have developed a strong on-line presence largely through Facebook, Pinterest (Tedk4art) and Instagram.
They live in a beautiful conservation village near Wakefield, across the lane from Newmillerdam Country Park and lake. It's a short few minutes drive one way to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and an even shorter time to the Hepworth Gallery. They have four cats and in their spare time, they offer Airbnb accomodation.
Other than painting, they share a love of gardening and have created what people describe as a stunning garden around their cottage. Jan is also a successful and published poet, here and the USA.
Their cottage doubles as a gallery for their work and they offer open studio days as well as painting workshops.
